Hi, quick brainstorm needed; my horse came in lame again today with what looked to me like a sore foot - had similar problem a month ago on exactly teh other foot (last time it was right hind now it is left hind) - I only suspect this is what it is but there is no swelling in leg or anything but the way she is lame points to foot. Last time vet came and cut out bits then we had to poultice; have left horse in stable over night now and will re-assess tomorrow as she was still putting some weight on leg so didnt seem extreme then if still lame tomorrow should I call vet immediately or would you give it a couple of days? Should I try a poultice to see if it helps?Sorry, it just seems not extreme enough to call vet out on emergency yet it bugs me and of course I dont want to waste any time that would otherwise help - so annoying that things always seem to happen on a Friday night!!! Just let me know what you think I should do that would help... thanks

If it was my horse i think i would poltice the foot tonight to see if it draws anything out. As this seems to be the action last time.

I wouldnt of called the vet either.. if anything i think i would call your farrier first.

thanks, maybe that's what I will do - poultice first; like you say, the way she is behaving is so similar to when we had that problem on the other leg ...funny though, farrier came only 3 weeks ago and did not detect anything coming up how quickly do these things develop?

in a day.. Thats how quick it can happen.
It sounds like abit of an absess and these can set off quickly.
I would get your farrier out before you vet. Your farrier will do a good hunt for an absess, corn or bruising.

The poltice will draw out absess and bruising so i would say this is the best course of action.

3 weeks is quite a whie and the hassle probably wasnt there then.
