lame on front leg any ideas please

farrier out first thing then vet but wondered other than an abcess if anyone has any idea what is wrong

Samson is lame on his front right forelimb

He is unlevel on a circle in the arena and hopping lame on a circle on hard ground.
There is a tiny bit of heat on the outside top of the hoof going up the side of the pastern but not at the front or into the fetlock

I am hoping it is just an abcess



any ideas

sounds like a deep abcess to me, it'll probably bruise out within 5 days.

well where do you want to start? a thousand possibilities!!!! sorry!! pray it is just a slow brewing abcess! you could try tubbing and poulticing and box rest and see how he is in 48 hours! then down the diagnostic route?

im in the same situation mine is lame 1 day and not the next had vet out and he couldnt find anything wrong he has now had a week in and i took him for a hack to day, sound! if he goes lame again i have to ride him untill i make him hopping lame sooooo annoying.......
