My tb much to his disgust has been in our small turnout daytimes all week because of the weather, doing hoolies that the area isn't big enough for, I think hes done something to right shoulder (did same couple weeks ago & a day later came right) Hacked out this morning, fine in walk, fine on left diagonal trot, as soon as I changed diagonal we had the head nodding & mild lameness. This seems odd as was trotting in a straight line but anyone have any ideas or agree he has probably just 'tweaked' something? Can't be that bad cos he was perfectly capable of being a dick when we met a tractor then wanted to canter across a field I was adament we were gonna walk across ;)

Your vet will be in a better position to acertain what is wrong with your horse.

Cause of lameness:
Bruising or inflammation in; joints , muscles, tendons/ligaments , feet – around the sole and laminae.

Before your vet arrives get a friend to lead your horse around, walking and trotting, and see what it looks like at a distance. It’s a good idea to do this with a normal horse first so as to make a comparison. At a trot a horse’s head will drop i.e. nod when it puts weight on a hind foot that is lame. If a horse is lame in the front leg it will nod its head when it puts its weight on the leg that is sound. A general appreciation of which area of the body is affected will help you get a closer look at a suspicious spot and maybe see if there is a sign of damage that may need quick action.

Check for swellings, heat, sensitivity etc.
