Hi all. I'll try and keep short.

After a number of months of very low level lameness and following vets advice my 11.2hh Dartmoor was sound at the end of May with all four shoes on. However had a very small positive reaction to a foot flexion test. Vet advised to up his work a little more and he would come back out 4-6 weeks later.

I started to ride him again (I'm 4'10 and 7.5 st) having lunged, long reign and hacked him out in hand. I dropped the lunging and picked up the riding.

Anyway started to notice a couple of strides of 'nodding' although he was tracking up ok on the lunge. then he would appear normal again (he was always sound on the lunge but not on hard ground). Then got vet back out and he is more unsound now on hard ground and hobbled quite badly after flexion test.

At the vets in a week's time for tests etc and I know I shouldn't google things but I like to feel prepared and ready with any relevant questions.

As it apperas to be relative to the right for fetlock area (the joints around the foot) what types of things could it be.

He has quite upright feet and always grows a lot of heel. he is sound on other three legs but I think he is squaring the toe of his right hind leg.

Any help much appreciated.

Until the vet has isolated the source of the lameness there's not really much anyone can tell you - it could be anything. Good luck at the vets, hope you get some answers.
