Before I start, I will say I have taken Blaze to the vets, he is on anti inflammorties but I would be interested in others take on this.
So - Blaze - small (well actually, he is the correct size!) fit staffie, 3 years old, highly active, neutered boy - quite muscular but not heavy looking - his muscles are defined but he was obviously neutered very young as he never developed a really heavy build. Averages around 1 - 1/2 hrs exercise per day between dog walker, my walks and the yard. Last summer he started to go a little lame (it was in the shoulder), put on anti inflamotories, problem eased up. Problem is back again, so he is back on the AI's. Also just put on him glucosomine, glucotin etc although dont expect to see any effects from that for another 5 weeks or so - he is on 350grm per day plus cod liver oli. Same problem in the shoulder. Vet has said there is now a very small muscualar difference between his near and off shoulder. He was put on restrictive exercise for 3 days (i.e on a lead only) which resulted in him going completely mental at the weekend - doing the staffie wall of death around my house and garden with no let up!. So, another option is to start investigating, with x rays/ops or do I just keep going with the AI's when this happens?. He is not insured although I have money put away for this sort of thing but what are your thoughts? I am worried that this has come back. He is (despite his best efforts) improving with the drugs but obviously there is now a weakness.
Other background is that he was a rescue (as is my other staff) I did meet his previous owners but I obviously can't be 100% sure of everything that happened to him before I had him. I have had for 18 months. He is really well and up to date to date on all injections/worming etc.
