My lad has some issue between hip and stifle. On flexion tests, he's still only slightly lame, it's not noticeable unless you know him well. He's been on box rest for a week and 2 Danilon daily. He's now finished the Danilon and the vet is coming back on Friday. She wants to go with hylauronic acid injections if he's still lame.

I personally think we should be looking at x rays or a scan to find out what the actual problem is rather than going for injections and still being unaware of the specific problem, of he's still lame.

Thoughts, please.

I would want scans and x rays first. Then you know what you are dealing with. Its ok treating the symptom but surely you need to know the cause.

Agree. Like Vanner says it's all well and dandy treating the symptoms if you know what you are dealing with. But I'd rather know something even if it is bad news, that not know and sweep it under the carpet, so to speak.

For me it would depend on whether the treatment would be any different. The problem could be bone, joint, tendon or ligament. If HLA would be the first treatment of choice for any of those then I would go ahead. It seems pretty unlikely to me, though.
