The trimmer was out this morning to have a look at the spooky pony's foot and fit him with some hoof boots on the fronts!
I trotted him up and lunged him, and she agreed that there was a very very slight lameness on his RF in trot only on the right rein. Checked for any heat or swelling (none apparent anywhere), and agreed that he has a very slightly elevated digital pulse on that foot. She nipped back and smoothed the hoof wall where there were pebbles getting stuck in an area of white line separation, and I'm supposed to clean it with hibiscrub daily.
Lunged him again, both with and without hoof boots, and the lameness seemed somewhat improved. Given the history of the lameness, we both suspect that his LH injury is still tweaking a little on turns, but it's much improved.
He'll continue on field rest until Friday, and then I'm to hack him out gently with hoof boots on for a bit. No schooling allowed, especially not turns about the forehand and all the rest of that sideways malarkey, until he's all better. I'm sure he won't mind!
Anyway, after an initial performance worthy of the Ministry of Silly Walks
, he's now the proud owner of a pair of Easyboot Gloves, size 1! I was intending to buy him a pair anyway, since I'd like to do more endurance with him, so that's all good.
Good news is that he's already looking less pregnant after a few days in pony jail with the sexy mare!
