My horse went lame about 10 days ago, we thought it to be in the heel of the near fore however when the farrier came out he found nothing in that hoof apart from being slightly tender, possibly some slight bruising. He then had a look at the off fore and found puss in the frog. I have since been soaking the hoof (both the near and off, just in case) in epsom salts and applying magnesium sulphate to draw anything out. She is still lame, just noticable in trot, not walk on the off fore. Am just a bit at a loss as to what it can be as there is no heat or smell in either hoof. Any comments welcome.

is the horse in the stable/ out of the mud? are you poulticing daily ? I would get farrier back out to check there isnt another pocket of pus and carry on poulticing and tubbing and get the vet to have a look if still lame by the end of the week. have shoes been removed?

Thanks for reply. Horse is stabled, hasn't been out since being lame as too wet. yes poulticing daily. Shoes are on. She is tender on the frog where the puss was but I put that down to bruising/tender from where the farrier dug.
