A couple of months ago when I was hacking Boomer went lame (I think he stood on a rock and stumbled and went lame). He had a bit of heat in his coronet(sp) band and wasn't really lame as such, more uncomfortable. It took him 2 and half/3 weeks to recover.

He spent 2 months jumping happily and very well, but in flat work he was very tense. He then went lame again for no reason, but it was the same thing. Coincidently, we had booked for the back lady (i can never remeber the proper name!) and she said that he had a problem with his left hip. She sorted it out using her equipment so his hip is now fine. However, sorting out his hip brought out his lameness more (rather than being uncomfortable he was actually lame) but it has healed quicker because 1 and a half weeks later he's sound!

What do you think? I think that maybe the lameness has something to do with his hip, and where the first time his hip wasn't sorted out it came back again. It's really confusing because surely his lnear hip couldn't affect his off fore, but then why did sorting out his hip make his lameness worse but heal quicker? Also, what should I do? I'm thinking if it comes back again to get the vet out (three lamenesses in a row all exactly the same thing can't be a coincidence!), but if it doesn't put it down to his hip.

Opinions appreciated

I thikn you need to get a farrier or vet to look at him - sounds like he did some damage to his hoof.

PS - you can't realign a horses pelvis/hip with a tens machine...get a new back lady!

He's had the farrier look and he spent about an hour looking for something, but he couldn't find anything! And with the back lady - she said it was his hip but she used the tens machine on his croup, I don't really know but it made a difference. I do trust her a lot we've had her for many years and any problems that we've had have always been sorted out by her, along with our saddler who we've also had for years and is very good we've never had problems with our horses backs unless we've bought them with them, this is the only exception!

If he goes lame again o would be tempted to have x-rays of feet done just incase of anything you cant see,
