My 5 year old cob x tb was sound after shoeing Wednesday. Hacked out sound same day. Friday lunged her, walking out well in walk. Trot really disunited, lame off hind, short stide so looking like she is bunny hopping.
Been suffering from clicking for about 6 weeks, can't work out if its hock or stifle. She has suddenly started to dish off fore. Mare broken in Dec 11. Farrier re visited Sat pm to asses, as of yet cant find a problem in the feet.
No swelling, heat, or pain shown.
How long would you wait until you consulted a vet?

If this was a first lameness, I would expect she has banged or twisted something and box rest for a few days on bute or danilon, then reaccess. If she is still lame then I would get the vet out.

Thanks wagtail. Yes first lameness. She is on bute, but sadly i don't have a stable. Farrier going to re asses tomorrow and will call vet Wed.

You really need some sort of facility to restrict movement in the case of emergency. Can you not make her a small enclosure with electric fencing? With some types of lameness, restriction of movement is essential and can make the difference between a horse recovering and having to be PTS. I am sure in your case it is nothing serious. I hope she recovers soon. :)
