Wondered if anyone has any ideas, I'd assumed abscess due to the sudden and severe lameness but farrier can't find anything....
Got to the field yesterday, to find my 2 year old couldn't/wouldn't put weight on back foot, looked like classic abscess. He was kicked on the same leg on the outside above fetlock the day before, small graze and a swelling but he was not lame. He's also had mud rash (despite a lack if mud) on the heel of that foot ( it's the only white foot & sock!)
Got him in last night, this morning putting more weight on it ( no painkillers given) but stil lame in walk, won't trot, and steps in with it too, towards opposite leg. The kick has swelled up more due to standing in too. Farrier says it's not a hoof problem.
Delayed reaction to a bad kick? Any thoughts as it's an odd one!
