Hi guys,

I have a horse who went suddenly lame, vet and farrier both thought was abscess and he had poultice on for 2 weeks (im not confident anything came out but maybe a little bit) and now is not lame in paddock and perfectly happy to gallop around bucking however when I went for a ride he was lame in trot + canter. He still has an enlarged vein on the leg but this has been there for a while. He was definitely more sore being ridden in arena than paddock. He has pads and shoe on now.

I cannot get vet or farrier due to strict lockdown at the moment so Im not sure what to do

I am just worried why he is still lame because it should have healed by now?

Any thoughts of why he is still lame? Should I be worried it is something worse. He is a 13 year old tb.

I appreciate it’s difficult due to lockdown, but you need a vet for a lameness work up. Surely this is permitted for animal welfare reasons?

you saying it’s worse in the school makes me suspicious that there is a soft tissue issue.
