Right, I'll try and keep it short. 22 year old shetland mare, born with cow hocks so kept as a companion. Never had a day's lameness in her life. Boxing day - limping like a b*gger. No heat, swelling, cuts, or stiffness. Just the whole leg seemed to be lame. Vet came, could also find nothing. Two week course of bute, assuming it was a kick. One month later, the lameness has improved a bit but she is still limping, and lies down a fair bit. It's very hard to say just how bad it still is, as she's always had an odd gait. Am wondering whether to get the vet out again, given he couldn't find anything last time. Lets face it, she's not going to have any major diagnostics done given her age. Any suggestions?

Have you tried nerve blocking up the leg yet? It may at least help to isolate where the lameness is... and isn't too expensive or invasive, given her age...
