Lameness question

Out of interest, what would make a horse lame and short behind in canter, but completely sound in walk and trot?

Could be a number of things such as

Sacroiliac or hock

Can you find any heat or swellings anywhere?

Could also be a back problem or some neurological..... Actually could be anything- helpful I know

It could be bilaterally lame so only obvious in canter, also back pain can show more in canter as it springs through where in trot it can be flatter through the back.
I had one horse that was only slightly lame behind, it only showed as the injured foot landed on the inside, it just hopped off the ground because it couldn't land and push, if that makes sense, that was an arthritic fetlock joint.
