I can't believe we've had a stunning April and now after a single week of rain, its an absolutely beautiful day again and where am I?! At HOME!

I got Blue end of January, took a little time with him before hacking out, but he was lovely (only hacked out on our own), but quickly got a bit footy so stopped riding 'til I could have him shod.

Moved yard, so he was a bit uppity and unsettled, so another bit of a wait for him to settle, which didn't take long, then wait for farrier to shoe him.

Took him out with a friend up on the mountain near the yard, where he promptly dumped me and ran for home, so knocked my confidence a little bit.

Friend rode him out, he did a starjump at his own shadow and immediately went about 5/10th lame. Heat and swelling so immediately we are on box rest, cold hosing and icing twice a day with short bits of grazing in hand. This lasted a week, called a vet out who did a nerve block so we knew the injury was below fetlock joint (near fore), so no point in doing a ligament scan after all. Give it another week, still lame (though slightly better) so back to the vet for an X-Ray which shows nothing (good news!). Another week and he's improving to about 2/10ths lame... then two days ago, back to 5/10th lame in trot and visably lame in walk.

SO glad I have him, fantastic horse with so much charactor and he won't be going anywhere...

But for God sake am I ever going to get to properly RIDE him?!?!?!

I'm afraid I don't know much about boots, are they available from a farrier? Have you tried them personally and had good results? Thanks for the advice!

You have my sympathy and empathy.

Re. the boots, either do a search on here or start anther thread - there are a number of hoof boot users and they'll let you knwo what they use and for what.

Fingers crossed he comes right quickly.
