So, I have posted earlier this year about my boy who has been lame for the last couple of months.....and finally have a bit of news.

He went to leahurst on Tuesday for an MRI - they did find a bit of damage in the navicular area but nothing that they wouldn't expect to see in a horse his age (18 year old hunter).

There was arthertis in his coffin joint and his feet weren't as balanced as they could be.

They did a nerve block in the navicular bursa and then he came sound, but there are no signs of disintegration in the bone just changes in the supporting ligmants.

Their farrier has put extra long shoes on him to try and provide extra support for his heels and to encourage extra growth (they were really unbalanced before):). They are going to give him some steriods and he will be on boxrest for 3 - 4 weeks and we will see how he goes. The vet said that depending on he reacts to the steriods there should be no reason he can't be out hunting this winter.....keep your fingers crossed for me!
