Lameness without heat or swelling

Hi everyone!

I have a real dilemma...
I recently bought a pony who was sound when I got her, she was shod on the same day as I got her. I kept her in for 2 days whilst I wormed her, brought her out on the 3rd day and she was lame. She continues to be intermittently lame and this is now 3 weeks on.
My farrier said she has had laminitis in the past, so I started managing her for that. Gave her some bute and started soaking her hay and put her on box rest.
She initially become sound and so I turned her out with a grazing muzzle in a paddock for 20 minutes while I mucked out.
She seemed to go backwards and I had the vet out and identified it was the right fore that wasn't right but he doesn't think its laminitis, he has described it as a low grade lameness. She has now been on a sachet of bute morning and night for 5 days and half a sachet morning and night for another 4 days. She isn't lame in walk but she is in trot. She is having her back done next week. Review with the vet on Friday and Ive asked her farrier to come out.

There is no heat in her hooves, no swelling in her legs, her soles have no discolouration, Ive prodded and poked all over her legs and apart from a pea sized splint I cant feel anything!!

Anyone got any ideas?? I'm stumped!!

Well the only thing that seems to have changed is that she was shod - does she need to be shod? If she was unshod and sound before, maybe she is happier that way. When I first had my horse I had a similar thing, on reflection & knowing what I know now, I should have taken the shoes off so I could really see what was happening, 12years on my horse has suffered from so many issues, I will always wonder if it was because of bad shoeing in the first place. Maybe the farrier has trimmed her more than she is used too...... Hindsight is a wonderful thing, you may as well have the benefit of mine!!!! Was she shod by your farrier? Was she shod previously? Does she react anywhere to hoof testers?
Was she vetted?
What was she wormed with?

She had shoes on before. She didn't react to hoof testers. My farrier has been out today and said she is getting over a laminitic episode. I've no experience with laminitis so I've got no idea how long things can go on for!
