lameness work ups

How long to do expect a full lameness work up (nerve blocks/x-rays/scans etc) to take a a specialised equine hospital?

Fudge went to Rossdales and it took a couple of hours from start to finish.
 
I suppose I agree with Southywesty, but my chap's lameness workup was done in two stages. My own vet did the x-rays and trot up, lunging etc which took about 1.5 hours, but due to cobs having 'thick skin' she couldn't do the scans, so he went to Rossdales where we spent the best part of the day and had lots of trotting around (and around and around and up and down), 3 nerve blocks (going further and further up the leg) and finally the scans which involved sedation and lots of filming. At Rossdales they also examined his other legs, to a lesser extent of course, his back and general flexibility.

Then you have to factor in the time for asking idiotic questions and deciding what to do in terms of treatment......:o

Strangely enough both the horse and I quite enjoyed it at Rossdales.

Anyway, why do you ask? Do you have a problem?
 
depends i have had some very eaisly diagnosied on first nerve block and xray and others have taken many hours and several trips to the vets. so really depends on the horse and the problem
 
i've had loads recently! some done at my yard and then the rest in a specailist place. thats only because nothing shows on any of them so we had to start from the very begining. i swear my horse has had every nerve block going. for each of my work ups the vets didnt tend to want to do more than 3 nerve block in a work up and each work up took about 1.5hrs. think we've had 6 work ups in total trying to diagnois the lameness issue
 
Had vet come to yard to full work up, nerve block and x-rays first time he had met my mare so didnt know her and her issues. Only needed one block and he hit spot first time which was really only chance he had with her as she is not safe with needles. Took nearly 2 hours for the lot and had both hocks x-rayed.
 
My other horse has been referred to RVC. The lady I spoke to was on about over night stays etc. My only prior experience is the lameness work-up Fudge had at Rossdales...
 
Is it for a bone scan? Or that they think they may do one as if thats the case then he has to be there for few days. Last october mine had scan and was there from the sunday to the wend and that was just for pre-work up and scan no x-rays etc.
