Have owned my thoroughbred for nearly two years now. Was pregnant nine months of this so didn't ride. Obviously in that time continued to have his shoes done. Towards end of my pregnancy (April time) he developed an abcess, had vet and farrier out, X-rays etc. came sound again within just over a week. Anyway everytime he's been shod since up till five weeks ago he's been lame. He has then been lame for five weeks on and off. Had other farriers and same vet out again, all say incorrect shoeing etc. so have swapped to a farrier who is highly recommended and vet also recommended him. Horse been in for past week poulticed and was completely sound. New farrier came out and has given him a whole new set of shoes. He commented on how the old farrier had made his already pigeon feet more exaggerated and that they were not even level underneath. Horse was completely fine during shoeing. Anyway took him out for a small walking hack today and about ten mins away from home on the way back he is now hopping lame again. He's putting weight on the hoof etc but is bobbing again. I don't know what to do as all X-rays were fine and he's obviously now got a very very good farrier!
