Our hay delivery hasn't arrived yet and we only have one bale left. My boy lives out with two others and they want to get some haylage in just for a few days till we get the hay delivery.

My boy had a mild case of lami in October and is fine now living out 24/7 but really worried about the haylage. Is it ok to feed it to him? I have no idea about it all help. Help?!?!

Depends on the haylage. Some haylage has less sugar than hay. It is impossible to know. I feed Marksway hi fibre haylage to my lami prone mare. She does better on that thn soaked hay. But she would get laminitis if I fed her the high energy haylage I feed to some of the others.

Thank you. Think its too big a risk when I have him on a diet he is happy with. Gonna see if I can get hold of a few bales of hay I think.

I am so paranoid :(

Mine had a flare-up in october when we moved yard and I put him on haylage. He's been fine since he's been back on hay. So I wouldn't risk it.

Youre not paranoid, you're just careful which is essential with any lami. Good for you!

Tbh if you rang me up and were local and I didnt know you from Adam I would be happy to lend you a couple of bales of hay, given the weather scenario and having a lami prone pony. So even if friends can't help, do ring round stables locally.

I personally wouldn't risk haylage with my lami girl. If its essential then high fibre bagged only and I would soak it too.
