After ready the other thread I'm not sure what to do.
I have a rising 6yo Welsh Cob. Last year he became very ill with some sort of infection and came down with laminitis as a secondary. Obviously I am now super careful with him. He is fine weight wise, if anything he could do with putting a bit on in some people's opinion. They have been on a pretty much bald paddock for the past few months. They will be moving over to the summer fields in the next few weeks. Now I can either keep him in my private paddock, which is about the size of a menage, bit bigger, hardly anything in there as they've been grazing on it but obviously it will start to shoot through. Or I can turn him out in the bigger field with everything else.
What would you advise I do with him. Where should I turn him out and for how long? Last year I kept him in the private paddock until the big field had been eaten down, then he went in there over night with no issues. But now I'm worried about the spring grass shooting through as he was on box rest last time so he didn't really get chance to get to the fresh shoots. I also have a mare who I want to be careful with, I really don't like them going from no grass to lush grass, whether they're prone to lami or not.
Opinions please?
