what an awful morning, went up to check mare and found her unable to move. All sorts of things going through my mind. Vet came immediately and diagnosed she had developed laminitis in both her back feet, and a little in her front, think we got it really early as yard owner said she was walking fine at 9.00 then I got to her at 11.00. Vet has taken all shoes off and she is now on box rest for 3 weeks, then she will be reassessed. She thinks it is due to hormones.
She is going to have her feet x-rayed on Wednesday to see the damage, just hope it doesnt put a stop to her eventing career which she was going straight back to.
Worse thing is she hates being in alone and gets v stressed. Not sure how this is going to effect her when foalie born. At mo she is on controlled diet.
Any advice or previos experience greatly appreciated, need to know I am doing all I can. Has anyone used the think Laminintix which also has cinnomon in.

Your poor mare!! My mare has lami - please contact the Laminitis Clinic - they have a website you can look at but also have a helpline (open Mon - Fri 10 - 4pm) and they will give you excellent advice about diet, rehab etc They are the experts for lami and there isn't much they haven't heard or seen and are really patient while you ask all sorts of questions. They were a god send for me and my mare - and thanks to their help and advice she is back in full work. If necessary they will also look at xrays and will speak to your farrier.

The advice they give is current and up to date with regard to the treatment of lami - I'm sure with out their help and advcie my mare woukld not have made the recovery she has.

I hope your mare gets better quickly.
