I am a vet involved in laminitis research at The Royal Veterinary College. Founderguard is an antibiotic that is used in certain situations to help in the prevention of pasture-associated laminitis. Currently it can only be obtained by vets, who have to apply for a special licence on an individual horse basis. To try and increase the ease of obtaining the drug, we need to obtain evidence relating to the effect the antibiotic might have on the bacteria normally found in the equine gut. To do this we need faecal samples from horses and ponies that are being given Founderguard so that we can look at it's effect on gut bacteria. If you can help, please contact me: njhuddleston@hotmail.com Many thanks.
