Laminitus in the larger horse - update week 6

Well after the x-rays were all lovely and clear 2 weeks ago

The Vet came out again today to see how she is doing now she has heartbars on. Well she is still pottery on the front left with no bute, so Vet has put her back on bute to give her good leg a bit of a rest. I am to make a small turnout paddock for her in a week or so's time to encourage her to walk around a bit more as her pasterns are getting a bit puffy from standing in for so long. It was slightly amusing as soon as we had walked her around on both reins she towed me back into the stable to get back to her haynet!
Vet was quite happy with how much hay and feed she is getting as I was a bit shocked at how much she weighed when we put her on the Vets weighbridge (well over 50kgs more than the weightape estimated) and thought she perhaps needed to diet (I know that if she can loose some weight this will only help her)
This is Moo earlier in the summer

So I still have to be patient with how long its taking - I know it could be alot worse!

Those xrays look excellent ours were nothing like that sadly. Could she have turn out in a small yard or indoor school ?, that worked well for our mare. Moo looks lovely by the way.

Thanks Nettle123, yes I am going to brave the rain later today and see what I can constuct by way of turnout paddock that we can wire up to the electric fence, we did discuss turning her out on the yard but thought she may be uncomfortable moving around on concrete - so field it is! I think being turned out for a bit in this weather will come as a bit of a shock to her as the weather was nice when she began her box rest!

Aww bless her glad she is getting better, the yard i am moving to the reason i am getting to move to it is the yo's 16.3hh tb x wb 18yr old mare who i would never have said was overweight suddenly went hugely lame the vet diagnosed laminitis something to do with toxins etc and something to do with the sudden frost on the ground i do not know the whole story but she was suffering hugely and had to be pts so now ther is a space

i dont know enough about laminitis
