For those in the Lancs / Bolton / North Manchester area's...

You may have notice a sudden influx of travellers around the M61/M60/M62 corridor....
Seem to have sneaked in discreetly... there's now 3 sites in the Bolton areas...all consisting of a large number of 'residents'...

Just as a warning....
They seem to have aquired a large number of very nice...and very new Ifor trailers... and for some reason...these trailers seem to be off loading a number of Gypsy Cob...Cob X types across the area..

No implications suggested, or implied!
Just be aware of your horses and tack.

Oh god... i wont sleep now Boltonrider!! Im in Chorley and the yard next door to us had their tack nicked recently.
I'll end up camping at the yard or something outrageous.
Thanks for the heads up!!!

Just because travellers have arrived in the area what exactly are you implying????

Too many people in this country make assumptions and hold steriotypical views. FYI, I am not a traveller

Hark, I agree. I am afraid if you said similar about an Afro Carribean person or an Asian person it would be considered prejudice. Why tar all travellers with the same brush? And before anyone says "you don't know what it is like" I live, with my horses, in Cumbria, home to Appleby, the site of the biggest Traveller horse fair in the UK. Never had any problems.

It is a sad fact of life that more often than not when travellers move into the area things start disappearing, in my area anyway. The police usually visit livery yards etc to warn them. I am not tarring all with the same brush, we have a permanent gypsy camp locally and the residents on that cause very little problem, probably less than the local "chavs" .

Hark - unfortunately it is because people like the OP speak from experience. I'm just down the road a bit off the M62 and M60 and whenever the caravans start to roll the farmers all phone each other to put haylage bales or whatever across any ungated fields. There is a residential site nearby where the horses are kept in trailers and horseboxes. Even a pig has to be given enough space to turn around in. They break into fields and put loads of horses on - would you like them to dump them in your back garden? They clearly don't care about the welfare of their alledgedly valuable assets as they flytip on the fields - we are talking trailer loads of rubble, household rubbish, furniture here, not a couple of MacDonalds wrappers. The theft of diesel from farms is on the grand scale and I personally have challenged strangers on the farm where I keep my horse, clearly casing the joint. Farmers who try to say no to them get knives shown to them and threats of arson are made against them.

The old Roma folk were held in some respect - these are Irish travellers and frankly they are sc*m.
