My boy has been suffering from a severe and mysterious allergy. Resulting in and cutting a long story short he had a steroid injection in his bum. 4 days later he went suddenly and very dramaticly lame with a large bulge in the area of the injection.

This was the result...

During...... ( I didn't know the vet was going to put his finger inside and missed the initial fountain shot)

Wow, that will feel better now. My horse had an abscess on his shoulder, no idea why. Virtually as soon as it was lanced he felt better. It healed really quick & I've not had any further problems.

Oooo poor lad.

We had a horse on my yard many years ago that developed an abcess on his neck.

Boy it was gruesome. Vet stuck a bloomin hosepipe in it to flush it out - it was amazing....

My boy developed one on his neck after a flu jab years ago. It burst the day before the vet was due out to lance it - no kidding, the pressure behind it shot the gunk onto the opposite wall, 12ft away...

OP- good pictures and an interesting story. Hope he makes a quick recovery

A foal on the yard had an abcess on her shoulder, the vet put a finger to it and it exploded all over him. Should have happened to the owners for their incompetence.

I brought him home on Sunday complete with two carrier bags of drugs and dressings. He's been sooooo good and hasn't once offered to kick despite what has been done to him. On Sunday they took the drain out, including the stitches holding it in with no sedation and again he was such a good boy.

I took a couple of picture this morning so I will post them later.

Back to the vets on Friday for a checkup.

Jeepers Creepers!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet your lad felt sooooooooooo much better once all that pressure and gunk was released! Hope he makes a speedy recovery x
