Hey peeps

Can anyone direct me in the direction of the website for the official Land Registry in Scotland?

Have done a search but just coming up with companies who want to charge a fortune to search for you!

Thanks in advance

If you are interested in searching the register in relation to heritable property then there is two separate registers, depending on when ownership of the house in question was last transferred:

Register of Sasines
Land Register

The official "Registers of Scotland" website is: http://www.ros.gov.uk/public/about_us/our_business.html
They offer searches of the Register here: http://www.ros.gov.uk/professional/eservices/property_search/searchform.html although it looks like you have to pay a small fee.

Searching the Register of Sasines at the National Archives of Scotland appears to be free for family or historical purposes: http://www.nas.gov.uk/guides/sasines.asp

I wish you the best of luck! The copies of deeds I received from ROS were illegible! They appear to be using photocopiers that were obsolete in the 17th century!

Judging by the time it is taking to get replacement copies, there is a very long queue of others with the same problem!
