We have been looking for land to buy to keep Daisy on and there is nothing suitable in the area at the moment but we did see a 2 acre piece of land in a nice area that we thought might be an investment for the future. It has gated road access and is a well fenced field.

Do you think something like this would be rentable in the West Midlands? Does anyone currently rent a grazing field and have any idea about how much this type of thing goes for?

What would it go for if we put up a simple field shelter and got a water supply connected?

Thanks

Becky

I think prices can vary dramatically by region but when I was renting in the North West I used to pay £500 a year for 1.8 acres. No water or shelter and I had to do a lot of the fencing.

Burtie and I rent a field from New Forest Council. It's 3.75 acres and costs £655 a year + £50 for the licence piece of paper. We are responsible for all upkeep, fencing etc and when we took it over there was no water. We had a tap put in by SouthernWater but that only cost £68 as there was a water main on site.

It's worth approaching your local council and asking to be put on a list to be notified if something comes available. They can be a bit cheeky though. We had to bid for the field and I know for a fact that we ended up paying almost 50% more than the previous person but they've got you over a barrel.
