Hiya looking for some advice please. i took this horse, Comet, cross country schooling today (he's 6 and his 3rd time xc), he was super but often over fences his neck drops very low, he seems to be focusing at the ground and not ahead. it also looks as though he's delayed in straightening his legs on the way down?
does anyone have any suggestions on tack/bits/exercises so he stops disappearing infront of me...
any help much appreciated.

Baby loss of balance.
I'd do lots of bounces in the school and plenty of gridwork. I wouldnt take him xc again until his technique improves

I wouldn't want to be going xc on him until he is more balanced. The second fence pic terrified me he looks to be standing miles off and on his way down .
Having said that he is a lovely looking horse and looks to have plenty of jump. Cross poles bounces , parellels of cross poles in a grid

sorry to scare you guys, it looks more dramatic than it felt.
sounds like plenty of grids is the way forward. he can be clumsy SJ so will kill two birds with one stone.

just looks babyish to me, except for the 2nd fence where it looks as if he's taken off much too far away and jumped too fast and too flat and worried himself a bit. as above, i'd do lots of small fences with varying distances and get him thinking to make him cleverer about fences, tbh. looks a very nice sort though, i'm sure he just needs more experience and time!
