Large bumps/swellings with pics

I have an old mare who has has this problem for the past couple of winters. She is very itchy all over and on her back some of the fur has come out like rainscald scabs. She has been bathed in maleseb and had flamazine cream which has stopped it spreading any further.
She now has these large swellings underneath, just behind where the girth goes. They are hard to touch. She had similar last year but much further back. She had steriod jab last year which didn't really do much but as she is also laminitic I really don't want to have any more. Here are some pics from the side and from inbetween her front legs.

Any ideas what it could be? We did think of heart failure last year but that was fine.

Can you tell us what the vet has said? Also, is she static or has plenty of exercise?

If you press them, do you leave an indentation. If so, then it is odema. This can be due to standing around in one place for a long time, coupled with advancing years or due to some more sinister causes like heart failure/liver problems. I would get the vet to have a look and maybe take some bloods.

As lhotse said if it leaves an indentation when you press on in it could be odema. My boy got it when on box rest due to his body trying to fight an infection. Initially he had two lumps in the same region as your mare which looking boney. Gradually it spead around under his belly to his sheath - it never actually caused a problem but went as soon as the infection cleared up.

She is out 24/7 and wanders around all day. She has no filling in legs. I will press them later, they were the same this morning although she is so furry it may be difficult to see.
The vet had no idea last year, just tried a steroid jab and I think she also had some antibiotic powders. ~They did go eventually. She hasn't dropped any weight, in fact she has managed to put on this winter.
If they are no better by Monday I will speak to my vet. I personally think she has something going on inside. She is fine in herself and eating well.
She is 23 years old

Lymphosarcoma can cause odema under the belly, a blood test would be a good idea.

This is what I am beginning to think.
She will be going to the vets on Monday.
