can anyone tell me why lots of horses at top events now have a large section of mane cut from poll downwards about 3 inches. like a really big bridle path? saw lots with it at british open.

Sjers tend to do it, the top part of the mane near the ears can stick up, particularly when short so it stops that, saves on the amount of mane you have to brush and if you do plait, it's one fewer plait to do
