Benji Meldrew has a large swelling on his belly just in front of his sheath area and slightly to one side

Its about the size of a saucer. There are no cuts or punctures that I can see or feel. Its not at all painful and is quite solid in as much as if I press there is no depression in it.
He is not at all bothered by it. It doesn't seem to be oedema as I know it, nor a heamatoma. It really looks like someone has put a saucer under his skin.
Could it be an over reaction to a fly bite? He always comes out in 10p sized reactions to fly bites but I've never seem anything this size on him before

Or could it be where he has been laid on his hoof..so a kind of bruise? Or do you think its a vet job. Obviously I'll call the vet if it gets any worse or become painful but wondered if anyone had seen anything similar on thiers...
He is well in himself and out mooching in the field..

Yeah..could be any of the above couldn't it?..lol

cheers

Two of my horses had this sort of thing a few weeks ago, I decided it was fly bites and left them alone, they were gone within a week.

Its probably fly bites. We put Avon skin so soft on the bellies of ours to stop them biting. You could also give him some piriton to help with the reaction. Our vet said 6 of the normal ones a day should be okay.

Also apple cider vinegar is good for bites, takes the itchyness out of them.

Thanks both...
