My horse is having a tie back operation on Tuesday which will be under ga I know that then a couple of days later he’s having his vocal cords lasered. Does anyone have any experience of this and was this done under ga or sedation? Thanks

Sedation for the hobday. No issues and the tieback/ hobday made a different horse of him. This is the wound you will be facing. No big deal!

Thank you that’s great dropped him off this afternoon for op Tuesday and already pulling my hair out wanting him home!! Where did you have it done ycbm? What was your rehab like? Thanks for the advice

Somerford, by Wright& Morten with a visiting surgeon.

Rehab was easy, box rest with in hand grazing for a month as I recall, but he was actually kept in a barn and then in a piece of field fenced off in a set of bends so he couldn't get up any speed. A squirt of antibiotics up the back of the nose twice a day for a week, which he took well.

It made a different horse of him, bolder and more confident altogether. I never regretted it or the money it cost for one moment.

It's one operation I would repeat without question if I had another horses with laryngeal paralysis.

You won't regret it, good luck!
