I mentioned at the end of my last report that our last showing outing of the year was to the anniversary show at Howe for the Supreme of Year so off we went firstly on the saturday to earn the last of our points for the sunday night finale.
Arrived with two classes to go before me so Torin came off the lorry and was 'unwrapped' from all his bandages and rugs before heading into the ring for the chaps in hand non native, where he was placed 3rd behind two horses who regularly stand champion and are very well seasoned. He stood like a rock when the horse next to us, one if before mentioned well seasoned horses, in the line up reared vertically and gave it a look as if to say 'what are you doing?'
Then we were into our in hand hunter class, which in turn is actually our first ever hunter class so to be placed 2nd was just amazing....so off into the inhand championship we go and although not our day, its all ring experience for us and we've only done a handful of championships!
Quick change and onto our chaps ridden non native in what was a very small ring! He was a bit mouthy and strong on the go round but pulled his socks up for the individual show and gave me quite possibly the best ride of the season! Again placed 3rd, behind the same horses as earlier but thrilled none the less.
Ridden hunter was next, as I said before our first hunter class and with 9 entered I felt a little bit out of depth.....Torin however was in his element! He was just super and apart from changing legs in his gallop he gave me a super ride to be pulled in 4th among some beautiful horses!
After a late night on the saturday, Torin had a few hours out in the field on sunday morning before being pulled back in to be touched up before heading back for the Supreme of year finale....pretty sure he would be cursing me if he could actually speak.
Top hat was donned and away we went into the ring with about 20 other horses and ponies to strut his stuff. Not our turn for supreme this year but to have even made it in that ring to compete for it is beyond anything I could have hoped for this year, in our first season showing.......cant wait to see what will happen next year.
Torin is more than happy to have a couple weeks holiday after a very hard and long summer before winter sj and dressage commences!
Some picture from the weekend which I bought from the ever fantastic Sinclair Photography!
