Horse at yard is just about (in 2 weeks) ready to go out after fracturing front leg. Vets said 2 more weeks box rest, then turnout in small paddock, then limited turn out

Would you take that to mean he can go back in normal field with friends but just for a couple of hours, or he can go out in smaller than normal field all day with/without company?
 
Personally i would stick to a small paddock for half a day if you can!!Certainly wouldnt turn out with his pals until injury well and truly healed!Would only take a kick or for him to charge about and you be back to square 1!!
 
I would think he means a small paddock by himself to start with. The last thing you want is him hurtling round joyfully having been reunited with his mates!
 
My boy has been going out for 2 weeks now having fractured his splint bone badly on his hind leg. I can't split my field but I own all the horses that go out together so am able to keep in what I want. I started off turning a very sedated horsey out with his 2 quiet girl friends (who he still had contact with whilst on box rest through the stable bars). We turned him out for half a day for the first couple of days & gradually increased it, we have now re-introduced him to the other horses and finally feel save to leave him out all day.
 
i wouldnt turn out with others incase he gets kicked as his leg deffently would stand it i would just put him in a small field where he can see his field mates
 
I would go for restricted turnout as in smaller paddock I normally go for bit bigger than stable and increase it slowly and limit the time just for a while.I will be doing the same on saturday for my horse after 4 weeks box rest.Personally I wouldnt put him in with company incase he loons about or gets a kick for being over friendly.
I have had to do restricted on several occassions and in the past I have linked 3 small turnout out areas with small passage between and extra tape so they can graze and move without trotting straight through to another field .
 
Make sure he can't jump out! My girl fractured her front leg. 1st day of limited T/O I put her in small paddock next to other horses. She wasn't impressed so jumped the 4ft post and rail and galloped off with the others into the distance! Fortunately no damage done but could have been an expensive trip back to hospital!
 
ask vet and have some mild sedative for restricted turnout in a convalescent pen
we used four foot electric fencing and turned out alone when stable mates were in, so he mooched around and grazed.
Then withn one quiet companion.
