Last Summer-Update

A few days ago I posted about friends old mare who we had both looked after for many years. (aged somewhere between 35-40+)
Friend had decided that Astra would not be going into winter this year as she suffered badly last year.
Friend was in a bit of a tizz as she is a firm believer in 'The Last Summer' reward for a horse who has given you its all.
She was upset as the weather had been so bad that she was thinking of having Astra pts sooner rather than later.

Today at 10.30am Astra was gently helped on her way. It was peaceful and all agreed it was for the best.

THank you to all who replied and helped in the decision making.

I am sure Astra wasn't depressed by the weather, and the lack of actual sunshine is immaterial. She had the love and commitment of humans which is a luxury many horses do not get in their twilight days.
