Hi, I have a quantity of hay left from last years cut because I didn't find my new horse until recently, long time waiting for the 'perfect' horse!! Will it be ok to use this winter, it has been stored on pallets in a barn? Thanks for your help.

Yes - I was always told to feed last years hay up until Dec anyhow, before feeding this years hay. As long as the hay looks clean, smells ok and is not dusty should be fine.

That's the beauty of hay - it doesn't go off, our fatties were on 3 year old hay at one point. In theory should have a lower feed value, but was made earlier than the last couple of years, so that's debatable!

It will be fine. We are feeding hay from two years ago which was at the back of the barn as we couldn't be bothered rotating it.

No problem at all as others have said...I am currently feeding some 2007 that I managed to get hold of...it is great for my good doer!
