I had some hay delivered recently and I wasnt there but the farmer told my OH there was 2 types but OH didnt really take much notice and now cant tell me which is which!!! One hay was cut a lot later becuase of the wild flowers.

The difference between them is that one hay is much softer, but greyer in colour, the other is thinner stalks, harder and greener so which is the later cut one? And which one will have more goodness in it?

thanks

Can't you ask the farmer?
I would agree with CBAnglo on which is which.
Could you mix it and feed some of each.
I think the early cuts usually have more goodness in as the seed hasn't dropped.
