The vet's aren't open until Monday (except for emergencies) It's now Saturday night 8.30pm.

My dog has come in with a nasty paw wound. I've washed it and I initially put a dry animalintex poultice on it to stop the bleeding. We've now taken that off to let it breathe.

Do you think I need to take her to the emergency vet for a couple of stitches ASAP, or do you think this will wait until Monday morning if I keep it clean and wrapped up?

Yes, I don't think it's particularly deep, but it seems to have opened up. The photo does a very good job of depicting it.

She was belting round the yard and it didn't seem to bother her at all, and we only realised once we noticed a trail of blood. She's let us bathe it in salt water without flinching, so I don't think she's in much pain. It did bleed a lot, but has stopped now.

Not a fan of stiching pads. I'd be inclined to give it a quick wash off, then bandage whole foot (gamgee/cotton wool then vetrap and cover with duct tape to make waterproof)Check daily and keep an eye out for any infection. :)

When my dog cut his pads i bandaged it and when i took him to the vet they said i had done a good job but should of put padding inbetween his toes. Took about 3 weeks to get better.

i second the pads between toes, and load of padding and vetwrap. you want to really stop the pad/foot flexing to allow it time to heal. My old boy got trodden on by a horse and it split the pad in a similar way and he broke a couple of toes. He was just bandaged foot to elbow, sort of a robert jones bandage. He had that on for 10 days, then a little vetrap sock with toe and pad padding for a couple of weeks. I was given a drip bag from the vets with the top cut off and tape through to make a waterproof pad for when he was outside

Clean it off, super glue, cotton wool between toes and pad over foot and bandage. Super glue will not sting and will act as a scab allowing wound to heal from inside out.

My fella got a nice slice on a toe of his back foot last night *sigh*
He's been dunked in diluted Dettol a few times and Sudocrem'd and I'm going to get some spray-on plaster later (it disinfects and seals apparently, according to a mate who's dog managed to get both fronts sliced and diced last summer)
There's no way I could strap or bandage mine, he would get it off pronto.
I personally don't like to cover the wound. He'll be kept away from smelly places and exercised lightly on grass only for the next few days.
