My young horse has lateral swelling 2 inches below his knee . I've been treating as splint but wondering if it could be anything else . Hes field sound and lunge sound on soft surface now (although I won't keep testing him ) sound trotted on track but not keen on going forward in school . Trouble being he's baby and not being pushed anyway. Only walking him on hack so he doesn't loon in paddock and I will get vet out. He's had restricted turnout cold hosing and been rested . Apart from kick knock or splint I can't think of anything else that would cause splint type swelling. Just like to see if anyone else has some thoughts .
