Fuzzypeg's filly, Belle, is now 6 days old and getting pretty good at this playing in the field lark!
She DOES venture away from Mum - but then HAS to rush back!
Northwood Rose's filly - born Tuesday night - had her first day in the field tonight. Being 3 weeks 'early' (born at 319 days) she's a bit down on her pasterns, but they'll straighten up quick enough. Her name is Summer Song (Summer for short!)
She ran Rosie ragged today! Rosie won't let her foals near the electric fence - so she hardly got her head down when she had to rush to get between Summer and the fence! Poor Rosie is looking a bit peaky - she's been on a strict diet to try and avoid the usual tussles getting over-sized foals out! Fuzzy - who has also been on a strict diet - is still as fat as a pig but had MUCH smaller foal!
Both foals are by Lady's Tralee Raj RID. The two mares are mother and daughter - both RID. Fuzzy was Rosie's first foal and they were sold seperately after the breeder died. Poor Rosie had 4 more owners before I bought her - and several years later I was offered Fuzzy on breeding loan - so they're now re-united after 10 years, which I think is rather nice! But Rosie is STILL the boss!
