why do horses "laugh" 
Called a flehman response. Horses have scent glands under their upper lips, they are smelling something.

A horse's top lip goes all wibbly wobbly when you find his favourite scratching spot because if you were another horse he would be grooming you back (nibbling you). Some horses DO groom their owners back - I think it's a great compliment!
