Might be upping sticks from Kent to this area and need to look for yards for Ned. Needs turnout all year, couple of hours over winter a day is ok, the more the better. Also looking for a yard or grazing to rent so not necessarily a livery yard.

Not to sure about Loughton. But there are plenty of livery yards in Epping and Nazeing. Harolds Park Farm is good. They have a website if you google the name.

Woodredon is a lovely yard. I used to work there and have a young cousin there at the moment.

However turnout is not the best, also Woodredon is a big Riding School. So use of the facilities is very limited as you can't use the schools when there are lessons going on. And as you can see from the website, there are alot of lessons going on.

I have nothing against Woodredon though as it really is a lovely yard.

It doesn't really explain it on the website. But the yard is seperated into 3 blocks. So although it is technically one roof. It doesn't feel like it. Feels much smaller.

Stoneshot Farm is in Nazeing. It doesn't have a website. But is a small family run buisness. But limited TO.

There are tons around Epping though (I just don't know what there called)

indeed, £77 a week is expensive although it does include hay and hard feed so could be worse.

I wouldn't necessarily be put off by a large riding school depending on when you want to ride. My horse is at a large riding school but I ride before work in the week and can always get an arena, and it means we have amazing facilities.

I live just down the road from Loughton and I have to say they are all pretty expensive!

Barnfields in Chingford is a small riding stables with a livery yard. DIY is £40 a week but includes feeding in the morning and turnout/bring in. There are various other ones around Chingford too - definitely worth a google.

If you're looking for just stables/grazing might be worth a trip to Ingatestone saddlery to have a look on their board, they tend to have various adverts - perhaps they'd tell you over the phone?

If anyone knows of any in the area that are accessible by public transport please let me know :) I do like my yard but it is costing a small fortune, so always willing to consider alternatives!

Glyngates in upshire!

lovey hacking on your door step! the arena is workable and has lights.

not 24hr winter turnout but there are 2 winter paddocks which have to be shared but the mud puts most people off so manage to get mine out for couple hours.

sand pit which is a small turnout pen.

summer turnout is half a day either mornings or afternoons! always very good grass. fortnightly poo picking!

Offers DIY and Full Livery as well as holiday cover and odd day full livery service.

wide range of liveries from Happy hackers to people out competing weekly

Summer would have to be all day turnout at least. Winter a couple of hours is sufficient. I can see I'm goingto have my work cut it here.

Sounds like horses in this area spend their lives n tier stables. Thought turnout was bad in my area. Shame as I'm not passionate about turnout but ned has arthritis now so it's a big factor now.

I was meant to be moving to Loughton towards the end if last year and I was also going to be getting a horse I had a quick look round woodreddon. It is lovely! Although it's a school I think the lessons stopped quite early in the evening which would have been fine for me working full time then riding after work. They have very good off road hacking. The prices are high compared to where I live, south woodham ferrers, but you get what you pay for and west Essex is an affluent area

How bothered are you about facilities? There are a few areas I can think of where I see horses turned out all year round so might be worth making enquiries to see if you can rent grazing, but I suspect they don't have a school or anything.

I'm not after 24/7 t/o just no less than say 8 hrs in summer and 2 in winter. School would be good but at the moment hacking is more important.

Have a look on the notice board at Janette Moss Saddlery - 114 Brooker Road Waltham Abbey, EN9 1JH, 01992 712 908. They've always got ads for vacancies at yards & grazing including some small private ones that might suit you better and more local to Loughton, Buckhurst Hill etc., than Ingatestone. Good Luck.

Try looking in the Chigwell and Hainault area as well there are a few yards around there with all day or 24 hour turnout in summer and a few hours a day most of the winter. Best thing is to drive around and call in to places to see if they do livery as a lot don't advertise and just go by word of mouth. If you are a bit away from epping forest you will get more grazing.

Sorry, me again! Just remembered there is also Manor Farm in Mott Street, Loughton, but can't find any contact details for them. Can you tell I've spent a lot of time trying to find a yard near where I live?!?
