As title really, does anyone know the law as to traveling passangers in the living of a horsebox.

Our cab is walk through to the living and only has 2 seats, so was wondering where this left us if we were to take someone else, would we need to put seatbelts in the seating in the living or, is it ok to use as it is, or not at all?

Haqve skimmed through old topics, but it all seemed to be opinions and people assuming, nothing certain, and no-one seemed to know the law on this.... Any help :)? xx

Would be interested to know myself...not that I have living in my box - but it always strikes me as a rather illegal thing to do?

As the law stands it is legal to carry passengers in the living area provided...
1) They have direct communication to the driver - cut through is OK for this
2) The seat the are using does NOT face forward. If it does face forward then it would have to have seat belts and that opens a whole can of worms on security of seatbelt mounts etc. Side or rear facing seats do not require seat belts.

thanks juno, do you have an official link that states that, not that I dont beleive you, but mother will probably need something "solid" to read from a known source, before she agrees to trot off down the m62 complete with me + passangers xx

I dont know if it helps but we had a blow out on the M6, we had kids and dogs in the back..when the police attended they never said anything about them not being allowed. I think its just vehicles that are towed where it would be a problem.
