LAZY MARE - 3 Day on the trot i've gone up after work and she has been laying down!

What age is she?
My highland used to be right lazy and sleep in the morning. If you dared to get her up, she would drag her feet and the look she gave you :D She was 5.
She came in one day, lay down and then pulled her feed bucket over and started to munch out of it.

Sounds like my mare, she's always led down whether it be the stable or her field the lazy moo.

Well not always, if she's not snoozing she's stuffing her face and then snoozing afterwards! ;)

ETA: she's now 6 and has done it since a 4yo.

She is 5. Ive had her since beginning of last november, just getting her used to being handeled and breaking her in, but i think she's finally settled now!

She was very nervy and edgy at quite some time but not she's so relaxed she's laid down sleeping all the time!

My boy will usually lie down and sleep from when he's brought in (3pm-ish) until dinner (6ish). He jumps up when I arrive but anyone else has to bribe him, silly boy!! I'm just glad that he's relaxed in his stable an has a good routine there.

i wouldnt be worried. some horses just like lying down alot. mine are always led down when i get down in the morn. my gelding always used to lie down when i put him in the stable in the morn ready to ride. would do my chores and go back to get ready to ride and he would be sparko! mine lie down the same time everyday. must be there eating patterns

She is 5, and very light work, and gets fed at 5.15 each night (alfa a chaff and hi fi nuts) and she has been laid down last few days, always gets up and runs over, seems perky and happy, and always goes trotting off when turned back out....

My 6 year old has a snooze every morning after her breakfast, has done since she was a 2 yo. She's fine - it's just her own little routine. My old TB fella did exactly the same. They only lie down when they are relaxed with their surroundings so she's obviously feeling comfortable (you can always tell if they are down through pain, the whole body language is different).

By the looks of it it seems to be the younger ones as mine when she was 4-6 always used to lie down in the field! All the time! She's stopped doing it as much now she's 7 but whenever I used to fetch her from the field I'd have to wait for her to roll and then slowly crawl up! :D

My mare used to have her breakfast, then go back to bed for a kip - we had to drag her out to the field!

I have lost count of the phone calls I've had from people who think she's dead in the field, no, she just likes to kip ..... then scare the living daylights out of you by leaping up and hoolieing around with her tail over her back!

Snoozy snooze

My boy loves his morning snooze, always has done for the 10 years I've owned him. He is out at night and in during the day at this time of year. He has his breakfast and retires to bed, I am given 'the look' if I attempt to ride in the mornings. Bless!

There was a 4 yo CBx at a livery yard where I worked. When the horses where on night turnout he used to come in at 9am, eat his breakfast and then lay down and snore (full on hear-him-from-the-other-end-of-the-yard snore!) his head off for the rest of the day :D

Olly used to lie down when I came over, but then I used to sit on him so he gets up when he sees me now!

She has only been doing this the last few days, seems to have been doing it whilst in and coming out of season, but never noticed her do it before....

She seems fine in herself though x
