taking sprog and tiny shetland in Ridden Small M&Ms at a local show - questions....

1. What am i expected to do in the group section when everyone is cantering round? He is tiny (i know its a small breed class so nothing will be huge but he is very slow also, and at pony club rallies struggles to keep up with the Sec A's sometimes etc)
2. She is on the LR, but can do a little canter holding the saddle - so do we include that in our display or just stick to trot as LR's arent really supposed to canter are they?

Thanks x

no, you will not do the group canter, but you might be asked to do the group walk and trot, or you might be asked to stand in the middle whilst the others do the walk and trot.

lead rein shows do not canter so a simply walk away from the judge then trot a figure of 8.

I've got same as you, tot on Shetland and do these classes, you won't be expected to canter at all in lead rein, and if you are in a class where both lead reins and off the lead are in together you will probably just be asked to wait in middle while the others do faster stuff, a class we were in at the weekend was actually split and they put the lead reins out of the ring and judged the others and then brought the lead reins all back in to do our bit. Have fun!

great thanks for the advice everyone. Feel more like iknow what i'm doing now - im in 3 classes myself that day with my own pony so dont have time to worry aobut doing the wrong thing when leading her in hers!
