well it was interesting to me! There is a mare at work with a massive infection in her womb, even though she showed no sign of being poorly she is very lucky to be alive, anyhoo, the vet is coming out daily and flushing her to keep the infection out while a decision is made as to if she has a hystirectomy (sp?) or not!(the infection has a very high chance of coming back!) I didnt even realise horses could have them! I quized the vet and for those of you that are interested it is a two part operation. They do a standing surgey first, like a key whole surgery throught the side to remove the ovarys and the the second stage is with the horse on their back and going through the belly area to remove the womb. Just thought i would share what i learnt today
