12 year old all rounder, suitable for novice, with no outstanding faults or talents BUT failed the vet on hindlimb soundness (problem not diagnosed by vetting vet but certain to be progressive) Owner has retirement facility if pony doesn't sell/needs it but atm, pony fit and happy and they seem genuine people. Pony was up for over £2.5K and is between 14.2 and 15 hands.

Lease might be an option - a ball-park figure please!

I thought it was only competition horses and ponies that were leased.
I wouldn't pay to lease a allrounder, there are plenty to loan.

Someone correct me if I am wrong? It's just what I thought???

As the others have said, leases are usually fo competition horses. I certainly wouldnt be paying for the use of a n average pony who has failed a vetting. Keep looking.

I disagree, i know of several pony club type ponies who are leased by thier riders. I was at one point leasing out my 14.2hh PC/BSJA pony for £100 a month, but he is a open dressage team pony and inter. event team plus jumping newcomers heights BSJA.

Depends largely on the circumstances of the leasers, ours could have bought a pony but mines not for sale as I have had him for years and he's a cantankerous git.

Ah but Towerlands, your pony had lots of experience and was a proven all rounder. Im presuming (or assumng given the ittle info about the pony) that he is not a highly competitive PC pony so Im still not convinced that a pony like that would be worth leasing. Surely its costly enough to livery or keep a pony/horse without actually payinga rental sum too.

Someone we know did this, the pony failed the vetting (she was for sale for £3.5K so the family leased her for a year for £1000 with a view to getting that knocked off the price if they then decided to buy her (which they didn't!)
