Just wondered if anyone here has leased out their horsebox before? My mare isn't in proper work at the moment, and I don't want the lorry just sitting idle over the winter months.

I would like to lease it out until March/April next year, but have no idea whether I can draw up an agreement myself, or whether I need to go through a third party organisation? Also what would the leasee pay for, and would I be liable for any costs?

What would be the monthly rate for a 3 horse lorry with living?

Any advice gratefully received please.

tbh, i'd sell it and then buy another one when you need it.
i made the mistake of lending my lovely (and VERY well maintained) expensive 3-horse lorry to a friend for nothing. somehow they blew the engine up, no idea how, Iveco U.K. and the garage absolutely cannot work out wtf happened. It had just been fully serviced and plated btw, and I'd used it once after that for a 7 hour round trip, when it ran perfectly. Final bill to get it back on the road totalled over £12k... leaving me horribly out of pocket (no competing for me this year, that was my competing budget and then some!)
If you're prepared to stand that sort of bill, lend or lease it out. I've learnt my lesson! :( :( :(
