Leather collar - any recommendations?

I've used Oakside Saddlery a while ago to get them to make a leather collar for my one dog. There was a fairly long wait for them to deliver the finished product, but I was sort of prepared for that as their items are handmade once ordered and the quality of the leather and buckle made it worth the wait. I'm sure you'll be able to ask for any sort of customisation to the leather work as alternative to ordering the exact examples displayed on their website.

**warning** they are a bit pricey, but worth every penny imho

I recently bought an Ancol Heritage one from Amazon, rolled in tan and am very pleased with it.

I've just bought one of those, but in a "darker but not quite havana" brown. Looks good so far but only been using it for a week. Wish I'd bought the next size up though as I'm sure pup will fill out a bit more.

I'm after a leather collar either brown or london tan.... Good quality ie bridle type quality.

Any recommendations?

I've spotted a nice one on pets pyjamas website made by pear tannery.. Anyone used them before?

If you want bridle leather, ASK the maker if it's bridle shoulder OR bridle butt, always go for the bridle butt.Lots of people getting caught out by makers using the cheaper shoulder which is far more pappy than butt and butt will last a lot longer, people are getting charged for the higher quality butt leather when in fact it's shoulder. We are talking half the breaking strain too on shoulder than you have on butt. Also ask for cast solid fittings, not pressed or plated, don't get caught out, Oz (Saddler)

Some very good quality collars have, to my mind, a design flaw. The ring the lead is clipped onto is in the same space as the buckle. It does not matter greatly but it makes the leather bulge where it comes out of the buckle. I am not ordering again from a very reputable maker for this reason.

I have just received my new ESB collar, it looks great and, from what Oz says, it is actually hand-stitched. I am not an expert but I am very pleased with it. I hope it stands up well to the rough treatment the hounds will inflict on it!
